Building the future of personalized storytelling for every family
About Tony Vu
Tony Vu spent 15 years at the intersection of children's publishing and technology before co-founding Wondeme. As Director of Product Development at Scholastic Digital, he led a team of 40 engineers and content creators building interactive reading platforms that reached over 2 million students across North America. That experience revealed a gap in the market: children's books were becoming more digital, but not more personal.
The idea for Wondeme came during a bedtime reading session with his daughter. She pointed at the book's main character and said, "That's not me." That moment crystallized years of professional insight into a simple mission — every child deserves to see themselves as the hero of their own story. Tony left Scholastic in 2021 to build the platform that would make that possible.
Under Tony's leadership, Wondeme has grown to over 500,000 books created for families in 40+ countries. He remains deeply involved in product direction and partnerships, frequently speaking at BookExpo, ASU+GSV Summit, and ISTE conferences on how AI and personalization are reshaping children's media.

Philosophy & Approach
"A personalized book is not just a product — it is a mirror that shows a child they belong in every story."
Tony believes personalization in children's media goes far beyond putting a name on a cover. When a child sees their own face in a storybook illustration, it activates a sense of identity and belonging that generic characters cannot replicate. This conviction drives every product decision at Wondeme.
